Defense Leads Football To 14-7 Victory Over Amherst

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Football team defeated visiting Amherst College, 14-7, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) battle at Jessee/Miller Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams improve to 7-1 on the season, while the Mammoths drop to 4-4 overall.
 
What Happened:  
Inside the Numbers:
  • The Bantams offense generated 324 yards on 78 plays with 195 yards passing and 129 yards rushing.
  • The Trinity defense limited the Mammoths to 174 yards, including just 33 yards rushing.
  • Carroll completed 19-of-36 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown.
  • O'Brien led the Bantam receiving corps with eight receptions for 53 yards, while DiNapoli, Darison Hooper and Jamieson Hodlin added two catches apiece.
  • Tate Hoffmeister rushed for a career-high 83 yards on a career-high 21 carries with a touchdown, while DiNapoli added 30 yards on 12 totes.
  • Medwar logged a career-high six tackles, while Cooper chipped in five tackles and Phillips and Ethan Krauss tacked on four tackles each.
  • Sokol posted a career-high 47.2-yard average on five punts, including a career-high three punts inside the 20-yard line.
  • Amherst's Marek Hill completed 17-of-32 passes for 141 yards with an interception, along with four yards on six carries.
  • Carter Jung caught six passes for a game-high 75 yards, while Matthew Diaz notched 33 yards on five catches.
  • Cato Legaspi recorded 27 yards on six carries,
  • Carson Stotak and Luke Harmon racked up a game-high 11 tackles, while Matt Callahan and Sims registered 10 stops each.

  • The Bantams will look to capture their 12th NESCAC Football Championship when they return to the field for their 2025 season finale at Wesleyan University on Saturday, November 8 at 12:00 p.m.
