SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Trinity College Women's Basketball team overcame a first-half deficit to defeat host Springfield College, 58–49, in a non-conference matchup at Blake Arena on Monday evening. The Bantams rise to 7–1 on the season, while the Pride drop to 6–4.
What Happened:
- Despite trailing by ten midway through the opening quarter, the Bantams chipped away and cut the deficit to four, 18–14, behind scoring contributions from Lucy Dorion, Melissa Whitmore, Avery Marzo, and Alex Carbonaro.
- Trinity grabbed its first lead of the night early in the second after back-to-back jumpers from Marlo Simms and a three-pointer from Whitmore put the Bantams ahead 23–22. The teams traded blows for the remainder of the half until Springfield closed on a 7–2 run to take a four-point advantage into the break.
- After five ties and eight lead changes, Trinity surged ahead 42–40 entering the final frame. The Bantams then controlled the fourth quarter, outscoring the Pride 15–7, shooting 5–for–14 from the floor, and winning the rebounding battle 14–10.
- Kiki Fossbender ignited the comeback with a three-pointer to open the fourth, followed by a jumper that became a traditional three-point play after she converted the ensuing free throw. Buckets from Simms and Marzo, along with steady trips to the foul line down the stretch, sealed the 58–49 victory.

- Trinity shot 36.1% (22–of–61) from the field, 23.8% (5–of–21) from three, and 52.9% (9–of–17) at the line.
- Springfield finished 31.3% (20–of–64) from the floor, 15.8% (3–of–19) from deep, and 66.7% (6–of–9) from the stripe.
- The Bantams dominated the boards, 50–40.

- Fossbender posted a game-high 13 points, surpassing the 100-point mark on the season.
- Dorion and Marzo added 11 points each, while Dorion and Whitmore both knocked down a pair of threes.
- Simms pulled down nine rebounds, with Maya Carnes and Carbonaro adding seven apiece, and Whitmore and Slofkiss contributing six each.
