#13 Bantams Thwarted by Polar Bears, 3-1

BRUNSWICK, ME – The 13th-ranked Trinity College Men's Ice Hockey team traveled to Bowdoin College on Friday evening, falling short in a NESCAC matchup, 3-1. The loss dropped the Bantams to 14-6-1 overall and 10-4-1 in conference play, while the Polar Bears improved to 9-9-3 and 7-5-3 in NESCAC action.

The opening period saw Trinity fire eight shots on goal, but Bowdoin's goalkeeper, Jacob Osborne, kept the net clean. Meanwhile, Trinity's Devon Bobak stopped both of the Polar Bears' shots on goal. Despite a power-play opportunity for the Bantams early in the frame at the 1:45 mark, the score remained 0-0 heading into the second period.

Both teams recorded 12 shots on goal in the middle frame, with Bowdoin capitalizing on two, taking a 2-0 lead.

Trinity responded at 8:20 in the third period, as Richard Boyson netted the Bantams' first goal, narrowing the gap to 2-1 with over half a period remaining. In the final minutes, the Bantams pulled their goalie in a last-ditch effort to equalize, but the Polar Bears sealed the win with an empty-net goal, making it 3-1.

Trinity outshot Bowdoin 55-37, with 32 of those shots hitting the target. The Polar Bears registered 20 shots on net. Bowdoin also won the faceoff battle, 30-25, and blocked 13 shots to Trinity's 8. The Bantams will face Colby College on Saturday, February 15, at 3:00 PM.
