Bantams Tame Wolves in Non-Conference Play, 10-4

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Lacrosse team defeated visiting Western Connecticut State University, 10-4, in non-conference play on Jesse/Miller Field Wednesday evening. The Bantams improved to 2-2 on the season, while the Wolves dropped to 3-4 overall.

Trinity quickly gained control in the first quarter, scoring four goals to the Wolves' one. The first three goals came within the first three minutes, courtesy of Jay Ottomanelli, Jon Krikorian, and Bo Page. Krikorian and Page assisted each other's goals. Page's goal came during a man-up situation, though Trinity converted on just 1-of-4 extra-man opportunities. WestConn's Liam Ford broke up the Bantams' scoring streak at 7:26. The final goal of the quarter came from Davis Burleson at 5:10, assisted by Page—Burleson's first of the season.

The second quarter saw only three goals between both teams. Trinity scored two: Burleson netted his second goal just 40 seconds into the period, and Henry Schoettle scored unassisted with just over two minutes remaining, marking his first of the season. The Wolves responded with a goal at 4:40 from Julian Duque, assisted by Matthew Maloney. The Bantams led 5-2 at the half.

The third quarter was a quiet one for the Wolves, as Krikorian scored twice to extend Trinity's lead to 8-2 heading into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, the Wolves added two more goals: Duque scored again just over a minute in, and Tristan McMahon tallied the final goal for WestConn with just over a minute left. Jake Connors responded for Trinity, scoring his second of the season at 11:46 with an unassisted goal. Newcomer [Insert Name] capped the Bantams' scoring with a goal from a feed by Burleson. Trinity won 10-4.

The Bantams outshot the Wolves 48-42, while WestConn held the edge in face-offs (10-8) and groundballs (27-23). Trinity senior goalkeeper Jordan Opdahl recorded 13 saves in 58:58 of action, while Davis Ike added one save in the contest. Connor Atwater made 12 saves for the Wolves.

Trinity Men's Lacrosse will travel to St. John Fisher University in Rochester, NY, for a matchup on Saturday, March 15, at 1 p.m.
