Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | DeVaux

#15 Women's Lacrosse Topped by #2 Tufts University

HARTFORD, Conn. – The 15th- ranked Trinity College Women's Lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the season, falling 19-6 to the 2nd-ranked Tufts University. The Bantams now sit at 2-1 overall and 1-1 in NESCAC play, while the Jumbos improve to 4-0, 2-0 on the season.

Tufts quickly built an early lead, scoring five goals in the first quarter from Madeline Delaney, Emma Joyce, Schuylar Lloyd, Allie Zorn, and Ella Lesperance. Trinity's Grace Denious scored the Bantams' lone goal at the 12:37 mark, driving solo toward the Jumbos' net.

In the second quarter, Trinity added two more goals: Kaeley Zito found the back of the net at 10:53, followed by Kelsey Restivo's goal with just 2:12 left in the half. However, Tufts continued to dominate, adding eight more goals in the second quarter, leading 13-3 at halftime.

The Bantams adjusted in the second half, limiting Tufts to just two goals in the third and four in the fourth. Trinity scored three goals of their own, including one from Erica Kierstead. Denious added the Bantams' fifth goal, receiving a feed from Zito, and Alex Lesko rounded out the scoring for Trinity with a goal at 5:44.

The Bantams will next travel to the West Coast for a matchup against Pomona-Pitzer in Claremont, CA, on Sunday, March 16th at 11:00 AM to kick off their spring break games.
