HARTFORD, Conn. – The 15th-ranked Trinity College Women's Lacrosse team earned a hard-fought 14–11 victory over the visiting No. 17 Colorado College Tigers in a non-conference matchup on Robin L. Sheppard Field Thursday evening. With the win, the Bantams improve to 8–5 on the season, while the Tigers fall to 15–3.
Trinity was led by Kaeley Zito, who tallied three goals and one assist. Grace Denious, Alex Lesko, Lily Iler, and Kelsey Restivo each added two goals, while Brooke Kutrz, Sarah Marvin, and Courtney Lally chipped in one goal apiece. The Bantams dished out five assists overall—two from Restivo and one each from Heather Stucker, Alex Lesko, and Zito.
On the defensive end, junior Sam Hark turned in a standout performance with four caused turnovers and three ground balls. Sydney Aitkenhead contributed two assists and three ground balls, while Denious, Caitlin Hicks, and June Trodden each forced a turnover.
In net, Olivia Aguirre posted a .583 save percentage in the first half, recording seven saves and allowing five goals. Ali MacDougal closed the game in the second half with one save.
Trinity jumped out to a 2–0 lead in the opening quarter, with Kelsey Restivo scoring her 28th goal of the season on a man-up opportunity, followed by another man-up goal from Zito with 47 seconds left in the frame.
The Bantams extended their lead with a 3–1 run in the second quarter, with goals from Zito, Lesko, and Denious to build a 5–1 advantage. However, Colorado College responded with four unanswered goals, including one in the final 38 seconds of the half, to tie the game at 5–5 heading into the break.
The Tigers carried their momentum into the third quarter, scoring twice to take a 7–5 lead with 13 minutes remaining. Trinity answered quickly, sparked by Restivo's second goal, launching a 5–0 run that gave the Bantams a 10–7 lead entering the fourth quarter.
In the final frame, both teams scored four goals, with Trinity outshooting Colorado College 9–5. Despite the Tigers dominating the draw circle 7–1 in the quarter, the Bantams held firm and secured the 14–11 win.
Trinity returns to action on Saturday, April 19, hosting Middlebury College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchup at Robin L. Sheppard Field. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m.
