Women's Lacrosse NESCAC Quarterfinal Preview: #3 Colby

HARTFORD, Conn. – The sixth-seeded Trinity College Women's Lacrosse team will square off with third-seeded Colby College in the Quarterfinals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament at Alfond Field Saturday at Noon.
 
Bantam Bytes
  • Trinity enters the postseason with an 8-7 record and a 4-6 mark in NESCAC play to earn the six-seed.
  • The Bantams have dropped four of their last five games heading into tournament play.
  • Trinity checked in at #15 in the latest edition of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Weekly Poll.
  • Offensively, the Bantams are generating 10.86 goals per game, while allowing 11.2 goals to opponents.
  • Trinity ranks eighth in points per game (15.6) and assists per game (4.87).
  • Defensively, the Bantams rank fifth in groundballs (266), ninth in caused turnovers (129), and tenth in draw controls (171).
  • Trinity ranks fifth in save per game (7.47) and ninth in save percentage (.397) and goals against average (11.49).
  • Sophomore Kelsey Restivo leads the Bantams offense with a team-high 49 points, with a team-high 32 goals and 17 assists.
  • Senior Brooke Kurtz logged 39 points with a team-high 27 assists, third-most in the league, and 12 goals.

Scouting Colby
  • Colby finished the regular season with a 13-2 mark, including an 8-2 record in the NESCAC.
  • The Mules are riding a five-game winning streak entering postseason play.
  • Colby was ranked third in the latest edition of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Weekly Poll.
  • Offensively, the Mules tallied 191 goals, fourth-most in the league, while giving up 109 goals, third-fewest in  the NESCAC.
  • Colby is scoring 12.73 goals per game, fourth-most in the conference.
  • The Mules rank fifth in draw controls (196), eighth in caused turnovers (132), ninth in groundballs (237).
  • Julia Jardina paces the Colby offense with a team-high 58 points with a team-high 53 goals, second-most in the NESCAC.
  • Jardina ranks second in goals per game (3.53), third in points per game (3.87), and fifth in shots per game (6.00), and posted a team-high 13 groundballs and 44 draw controls.
  • Gennie Littlejohn added 35 points with a team-high 24 assists and 11 goals.
  • Ashley Dion chipped in 27 points with 22 goals and five assists, along with a team-high 46 draw controls and a team-high 13 caused turnovers.

History
  • The Bantams own a 29-15 record all-time against the Mules, dating back to their first meeting in the 1979 season.
  • This season, Colby posted a 12-2 victory over the Bantams on April 12.
  • Trinity and Colby last met in the postseason during the 2023 NESCAC Championship Tournament with the Mules edging the Bantams, 12-10, in the quarterfinals.
