Last Second Goal Lifts Hamilton Over #16 Men's Lacrosse, 9-8

CLINTON, N.Y. – The 16th-ranked Trinity College Men's Lacrosse team was defeated by host Hamilton College, 9-8, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tilt at Steuben Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams move to 7-4 on the season and 2-4 in conference, while the Continentals sit at 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the NESCAC.

A strike from Cam Elenteny put the Bantams on the board in the opening minutes, and then Miles Harvey capped the period with a tally in the final seconds to knot the score at 2-2. After a pair of goals from Hamilton, Bo Page delivered an unassisted goal to narrow the deficit to 4-3 at the half.

Jay Ottomanelli exchanged goals with Carson Kraus, and then Hamilton added two more goals in the final five-plus minutes of the third quarter to extend their lead to 7-4 entering the final period of play. Elenteny potted the Bantams opening goal of the fourth, and then Jake Connors, Ottomanelli and Page ripped off three straight goals to even the game at 8-8. On the final possession of the game, Thomas Healy found the back of the net with two seconds to play, sending Hamilton to the 9-8 win.

The Bantams outshot the Continentals, 42-37, and controlled the face-off circle, 15-6, but the Continentals held the edge in groundballs, 35-34. Jordan Opdahl made 10 saves for Trinity, while Jack Fried stopped a game-high 16 shots for Hamilton.

The Bantams will look to return to the win column when they travel to Wesleyan University for a NESCAC battle Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
