Men's Lacrosse Falls at Wesleyan, 13-7

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Lacrosse team suffered a 13-7 road loss at Wesleyan University in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) at Citrin Field Wednesday night. The Bantams dip to 7-5 overall and 2-5 in the NESCAC, while the Cardinals improve to 7-3 and 5-2 in conference.

The Bantams opened the game with an offensive spark as Cam Elenteny potted the first goal of the day less than a minute into play. The Cardinals used goals from Ben Burns and Gavin Lechner to take a 2-1 midway through the quarter, but Trinity rallied with three straight goals in the final two minutes of action with tallies from Miles Harvey, Jon Krikorian and Jay Ottomanelli to hand the Bantams a 4-2 lead heading into the second quarter.

Lechner sandwiched a pair of goals around a strike from Harvey to help Wesleyan narrow the gap to 5-4 with 12:32 on the clock. The Bantams extended their advantage to 7-4 as Conley Bohan and Bo Page netted back-to-back goals, but a goal from Jared Cohen close the lead to 7-5 at the half.

The Cardinals scored eight unanswered goals in the second half, beginning with goals from Lechner and Will Miller to knot the game at 7-7. CK Giancola registered four of the final six goals for Wesleyan en route to the 13-7 final score.

Elenteny, Harvey and Page chipped in two points apiece, while Colin McCarthy, Ethan Cobb and Duncan Rider notched assists for Trinity.

The Cardinals outshot the Bantams, 53-38, and won the groundball battle, 38-24. Wesleyan held the edge in the faceoff circle, 13-11. Jordan Opdahl made nine saves for the Bantams, while Conor Selfridge stopped a game-high ten saves for Wesleyan.

The Bantams will look to halt their losing skid when they host Colby College (3-7, 0-7) in NESCAC action at Tunsill Muldoon Stadium Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
