Volleyball Downs WestConn in Four Sets, 3-1

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Volleyball team collect a four-set victory over visiting Western Connecticut State, 3-1, in a non-conference match at Oosting Gymnasium Tuesday evening. The Bantams rise to 7-1 on the season, while the Wolves slide to 5-3 overall.
 
What Happened:
  • The Bantams grabbed a 1-0 lead with a 25-20 win in the first set, but the Wolves evened the score with 25-22 victory in the following set to knot the game at 1-1.
  • Trinity responded with back-to-back 25-18 set wins over WestConn to claim the victory.
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • Trinity registered a season-high 62 kills with a .249 attack percentage, a season-high 59 assists, three service aces and 13 blocks.
  • WestConn notched 52 kills with a .153 attack percentage with 51 assists, three service aces and eight blocks.
  • Trinity had six players with six or more kills, led by a team-high 15 kills and a team-high four blocks from senior Ellie Gordon.
  • First-year Emma Ewart slammed 12 kills with nine digs, while sophomore Maya Hall and first-year Sarah Jeremias added nine kills each. Hall logged four blocks, and Jeremias grabbed 21 digs.
  • Junior Chloe Gentile tallied eight kills, and senior Maggie Barnes had six kills and two blocks.
  • Senior Caroline Howell dished out a season-high 33 assists, junior Scarlett Jago posted a match-high 30 digs with six assists., and classmate Catalina Hendricks totaled 18 assists in the win.
  • The Wolves were paced by first-year Hallie Robinson and junior Julia Stoliker with 17 and 14 kills, respectively.

  • The Bantams will be back in action when they open up New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play against Williams College at Oosting Gymnasium on Friday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m.
  • All-time, Trinity holds a 7-43 record against the Ephs.
