HARTFORD, Conn. – The top-ranked Trinity College Men's Basketball team fended off visiting Amherst College, 75-67, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) clash at Ray Oosting Gymnasium Friday night. The Bantams remain unblemished at 15-0 overall and 3-0 in conference, while the Mammoths dip to 11-4 on the season and 1-1 in the NESCAC.
What Happened:
- The Bantams captured an 8-3 lead over the opening four minutes, but the Mammoths battled back with a 16-0 run behind three-pointers from Zane Adnan, Sherron Woodbury and Elias Chin to hold a 20-8 lead midway through the first half.
- Trinity regained control with 17 unanswered points, featuring five points from Jarrel Okorougo, to grab a 25-20 lead with 3:25 on the clock. Down 26-25 with less than a minute to play, Henry Vetter knocked down a three-pointer, followed by a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Okorougo to put the Bantams ahead 31-28 at the break.
- Play was tight to begin the second half as David Ayles gave Trinity a four-point lead twice, but the Mammoths would erase the gap with four points from Drew Martin tie the score at 42-42.
- Jared Berry helped Trinity pull ahead with a 10-point spurt over the next five minutes to hand the Bantams a 54-48 lead with 9:06 remaining. Four-point efforts from Okorougo and Tristan Davis maintained a 62-56 advantage at the 5:26 mark.
- A triple from Adnan put the Mammoths within two possessions, 70-64, with 1:07 to play, but the Bantams held off Amherst as Okorougo grabbed a loose ball and converted a fast-break layup and a free throw en route to delivering the 75-67 victory.

- The Bantams shot an even 50% (27-of-54) from the floor, including a season-high 52.6% (10-of-19) from three-point range, and 52.4% (11-of-21) from the foul line.
- The Mammoths connected on 35.7% (20-of-56) from the field, 40% (12-of-30) from three-point, and 71.4% (15-of-21) from the free throw stripe.

- Okorougo netted a game-high 22 points, shooting 9-of-15 from the field, with nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Ayles tallied 15 points with three rebounds, two assists, while Berry posted 10 points and five rebounds off the bench. Drew Lazarre dished out a game-high six assists with six points, five rebounds and three steals.
- Chin, Adnan and K.J. Neville recorded 11 points apiece to lead Amherst.
