BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Trinity College Men's Ice Hockey team surrendered three third period goals in a 4-2 loss to host Bowdoin College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) battle at Sidney J. Watson Arena Friday night. The Bantams move to 8-5 on the season, and 2-5 in conference, while the Polar Bears improve to 10-4-1 and 5-2-1 on the season.
What Happened:
- In the waning seconds of a Trinity penalty, the Polar Bears were able to capitalize as Will Rice scored off a feed from Jackson Holl with 7:30 remaining in the first period.
- After a scoreless second period, the sides combined for five goals in an action packed third period, beginning with an equalizer from Ty Broad with 13:38 remaining.
- Less than two minutes later, J.J. Lemieux potted an unassisted tally to put Bowdoin ahead 2-1, but Trinity knotted the game at 2-2 with 9:02 to play as Jason Zaccari found the back of the net off a pass from Ryan Friedman.
- With 3:23 remaining, Isaac Abbott scored the game-winning goal for Bowdoin, followed by an insurance empty net marker from Rice in the final minutes to seal the 4-2 win for the Polar Bears.
