What Happened
-
The opening frame saw a flurry of goals, with both teams scoring twice. The Jumbos struck early with a two-goal sequence as Dennis Davidson buried the go-ahead tally at 4:34, followed by Bryceon Lago at 5:08 for a 2–0 advantage.
-
Trinity battled the rest of the period in search of a response. At 12:11, Ian Spencer cracked the scoreboard after a passing sequence from Weston Turner to Nolan Hayes sprang him for a breakaway, slotting the puck past Tufts goaltender Gus Bylin's back skate.
-
With just under three minutes remaining in the period, Trinity's Alexis Bilequey netted the equalizer off assists from Hayes and Ryan Panico to send the teams into the second tied 2–2.
-
Another early jump from Tufts in the second pushed the visitors ahead on an even-strength tally by Trace Norwell. Trinity generated chances in search of another equalizer, outshooting Tufts 9–6 in the frame, but the Jumbos carried a 3–2 lead into the third.
-
The third period opened with a continued Tufts power play, allowing the Jumbos to once again capitalize early. Ethan Ullrick extended the advantage to 4–2 less than two minutes in.
-
Despite a Bantams penalty, Trinity found short-handed success as Turner sent a puck across the crease for Connor Sedlak to poke home for Trinity's third goal, cutting the deficit to 4–3 with under ten minutes remaining.
-
With 4:24 left, Davidson potted his second of the night to extend the Tufts lead to 5–3. Trinity emptied its net with 1:38 remaining for an extra attacker but conceded an empty-netter to seal the 6–3 final in favor of the Jumbos.
