#1 Men's Basketball Dispatches Baruch, 97-39

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The top-ranked Trinity College Men's Basketball team defeated Baruch College, 97-39, in a non-conference matchup at ARC Arena Saturday afternoon. The Bantams improve to 11-0 overall, while the Bearcats dip to 5-8 on the season.
 
What Happened:
  • The Bearcats kept play close early in the first half as a three-pointer from Jack Gordon tied the game at 9-9 with 15:35 on the clock.
  • Leading 24-20 with 7:50 remaining in the half, the Bantams defense limited Baruch to two points the remainder of the half while building a 43-22 advantage behind four points from Tristan Davis and three-pointers from Drew Lazarre and Henry Vetter.
  • The Trinity defense continued to clam down in the second half, allowing four points over the opening eight minutes as the lead swelled to 70-26.
  • The Bantams bench scored 19 of Trinity's final 27 points, including five points apiece from Jadon Holmes and Kobe Closeil, to wrap up the 97-39 victory.

  • Trinity shot 47.4% (37-of-78) from the field, including 30% (9-of-30) from three-point range, and 82.4% (14-of-17) from the free throw stripe.

  • David Ayles paced the Bantams offense with a game-high 17 points, a career-high six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
  • Jarrel Okorougo notched 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists, while Davis grabbed a team-high eight rebounds with 12 points and two assists.
  • Vetter added 11 points, a game-high five assists, three rebounds and two assists.
  • Trevor Coppin led Baruch with a team-high eight points, a game-high 10 rebounds and three assists.
