Diamond Leads Bantams to 5-1 Decision Over Albertus Magnus

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Ice Hockey team skated past visiting Albertus Magnus College with a 5-1 victory Saturday afternoon at the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The Bantams improve to 5-4-0 on the season, while the Falcons drop to 6-5-0.

What Happened:

  • Albertus Magnus struck first just 38 seconds into the contest, as Caden Pattison lit the lamp with a one-touch finish off a feed from Kyle Dann in front of the Bantams' net.
  • Trinity responded immediately, scoring back-to-back goals to swing momentum. At the 1:27 mark, Ryan Panico evened the score after collecting an assist from Ty Broad behind the net. Just 30 seconds later, Will Diamond gave the Bantams the lead, finishing a cross-ice pass from Oliver Gabrielson with a smooth one-touch shot to the top right corner.
  • The Bantams continued their strong opening frame with a power-play goal, as crisp puck movement spread the Falcons' defense and allowed Brendan Dumas to score from the lower left side of the net. Jason Zaccari set up the play by driving toward the crease, creating space for Dumas to convert.
  • At the nine-minute mark, Aiden D'Urso forced a turnover in the Falcons' defensive zone, leading to a three-on-one rush. Diamond was found at the edge of the crease and buried his second goal of the period, capping four unanswered goals and giving Trinity a commanding 4-1 lead after one.
  • After a quiet second period and 13 scoreless minutes in the third, Trinity added an insurance tally when Ian Spencer netted the Bantams' fifth and final goal to seal the 5-1 victory and open the new year on home ice.
