Al-Kadiri Potted Two in 5-1 Victory Over SUNY Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Trinity College Women's Ice Hockey team earned a decisive 5-1 victory over host SUNY Morrisville Saturday afternoon at the Morrisville New Year's Tournament. The Bantams improve to 3-6-0 on the season, while the Mustangs fall to 1-12-0.

What Happened:

  • Trinity found the back of the net in every period and erupted for three goals in the second frame to pull away comfortably.
  • Late in the opening period, first-year Meena Al-Kadiri opened the scoring on the power play, finishing a feed from junior Cassidy Yaun. The Bantams controlled play early, outshooting the Mustangs 18-3 in the first 20 minutes.
  • Senior Lillian Cassidy extended the lead early in the second period with an even-strength tally off an assist from junior Kate French. Six minutes later, Trinity struck twice in rapid succession, as first-year Nani Keyes netted a goal before French followed just 15 seconds later to give the Bantams a 4-0 advantage.
  • SUNY Morrisville broke through at the 16-minute mark of the second period when Nora Diana Egri potted the Mustangs' lone goal to make it 4-1.
  • Al-Kadiri sealed the win with her second goal of the game, scoring the fifth and final tally to solidify the 5-1 Bantams victory.
