HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach Keith Maurice earned his 100th career victory as the Bantams defeated visiting Albertus Magnus College, 4-1, in a non-conference matchup Tuesday afternoon at the Koeppel Community Sports Center. Trinity improves to 3-6-0 on the season, while the Falcons fall to 8-2-1.
What Happened:
- Just 35 seconds into the opening period, Kate French jump-started the Bantams' offense, finishing a one-touch goal on a breakaway during a two-on-one opportunity. French capitalized on a feed from Lillian Cassidy and Nani Keyes to give Trinity an early 1-0 lead.
- First-year Meena Al-Kadiri continued her strong season, netting her fourth goal of the year to double the advantage. Al-Kadiri redirected a shot from Mikayla Murray on the power play, with the setup coming from Livia Angioletti, to make it 2-0.
- Albertus Magnus responded with just under three minutes remaining in the first period. A cross-ice pass at the top of the offensive zone set up Gabriella Dellacroce, who fired a shot from the right faceoff circle that slipped past Trinity goaltender Madeline Carter, cutting the deficit to 2-1 heading into the second period.
- The second period remained scoreless, and the Falcons held Trinity off the board through the first 18 minutes of the third. The Bantams eventually broke through when Nani Keyes extended the lead to 3-1. Following back-to-back blocked shots by Angioletti in the defensive zone, Keyes carried the puck end-to-end and converted on a one-on-one chance against Falcons goaltender Christmas Johnson, pulling the goalie out of position before finishing at the back post.
- Albertus Magnus pulled its goalie in an attempt to generate late offense, but Trinity sealed the victory when Gabriella Gross scored an empty-net goal to secure the 4-1 final.
