HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College women's ice hockey team fell to visiting Colby College, 8–0, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) contest Friday evening at the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The Bantams slide to 6–10–1 overall and 2–6–1 in conference play, while the Mules improve to 12–4–0 on the season and 6–3–0 in the NESCAC.
What Happened
- Just under two minutes after the opening faceoff, the Mules netted three unanswered goals. Trinity looked to crack the scoreboard, recording 10 shots on goal in the opening frame, but was unable to get the puck past Ally Martiniello. Colby added two more goals to take a 5–0 lead into the second period. Colby's scorers in the opening frame included Beth Sinson, Lulu Gray, Molly Lefebvre, Julie Jasaitis, and Marion Legge.
- The Mules dominated the shot column in the second period, firing 24 shots on goal to the Bantams' three. Trinity's second goaltender, Katherine Lemke, registered 22 saves in the period. Legge tallied her second goal of the game, and Megan Martodam added another as Trinity trailed 7–0 entering the final frame.
- The third period was quieter, as Colby's Brooke Eselunas scored the eighth and final goal of the night to secure the Mules' victory.
