HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College women's ice hockey team dropped game two of its weekend series against visiting Colby College, 4–1, Saturday afternoon at the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The Bantams fall to 6–12–1 overall and 2–7–1 in conference play, while the Mules improve to 13–4–0 on the season and 7–3–0 in the NESCAC.
What Happened
- The opening five minutes saw the ice tilt in Colby's favor, as the Mules scored three quick goals from Courtney Schumacher, Emily Olsthoorn, and Brooke Eselunas. Despite the early deficit, Trinity goaltender Katherine Lemke stood strong, stopping 13 additional shots in the opening frame.
- Lemke continued her strong play in the second period, turning aside all 12 shots she faced to keep the Mules off the scoreboard. The Bantams generated five shots on goal from four different skaters, including Nani Keyes, two from Livia Angioletti, Gabriela Gross, and Lily Brook. Cassidy Yaun and Meena Al-Kadiri also had scoring chances, but their attempts were blocked by the Colby defense.
- Colby's Allie Corrieri capitalized on a power-play opportunity to extend the Mules' lead to 4–0 with 15 minutes remaining in the third period. Trinity continued to battle, winning 14 faceoffs to Colby's seven in the final frame, and eventually broke through on the power play. Meena Al-Kadiri redirected a shot from Angioletti just above the defensive faceoff circle to score the Bantams' lone goal, ending Colby goaltender Ally Martiniello's shutout bid and setting the final at 4–1.
