HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College women's ice hockey team opened its two-game series with Bowdoin College with a 2–1 win in New England Small College Athletic Conference action Friday evening in Brunswick, Maine. The Bantams improve to 5–6–0 overall and 1–4–0 in conference play, while the Polar Bears drop to 9–3–0 and 3–2–0 in NESCAC.
What Happened:
- Trinity struck first late in the opening frame, as Sophie Roussell buried a shot just before the 13-minute mark to give the Bantams the early advantage. Trinity held an 8–5 edge in shots through the first period.
- Despite registering just two shots in the second frame, the Bantams capitalized on their final attempt of the period. Nani Keyes doubled the lead midway through the stanza off a feed from Lillian Cassidy. Goaltender Madeline Carter turned away eight shots in the period to preserve the shutout heading into the break.
- Bowdoin cut the deficit to 2–1 at 5:29 of the final period on a goal from Meghan Britt. The Bantams defense held firm from there, as Carter denied four shots and blocks by Meena Al-Kadiri and Cassidy Yaun prevented further damage, securing Trinity's first NESCAC win of the year.
