HARTFORD, Conn. – For the first time since 2018, the Trinity College Women's Soccer team defeated Bowdoin College, 3-1, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) clash at the Trinity Soccer Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams rise to 5-4-1 overall, and 2-4-1 in conference, while the Polar Bears dip to 4-7, 1-6 in the NESCAC.
What Happened:
- In the 16th minute of play, the Bantams had a throw-in deep in the Bowdoin zone, where Ashley McSweeney dropped the ball to the feet of Caroline Kelleher, who turn the corner on her defender and curled a shot past Polar Bears keeper Ilana Posner for a tight angle to hand Trinity the 1-0 lead.
- With 11:40 remaining in the first half, Trinity added to their advantage as Gabriella Petriello connected with Makena Hammond through the midfield, and Hammond played a cross to the back post, where Emma Rose put a one-touch into the back of the net, extending the lead to 2-0.
- Just over five minutes later, the Bantams drew a free kick opportunity, and Kyra Charette stepped up and buried a shot just under the crossbar from nearly forty yards out to give Trinity the 3-0 advantage.
- Before the halftime whistle, the Polar Bears potted their lone tally of the contest as Dani Musry gathered a ball at the top of the box and placed a low-screened shot beyond the reach of Bantams keeper Zoe Tamborello.
