HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College women's volleyball team secured its first New England Small College Athletic Conference victory of the season with a straight-set sweep over Amherst College Saturday afternoon inside Oosting Gymnasium. The Bantams controlled the match from start to finish, taking down the Mammoths 25-13, 25-20 and 25-16.
Trinity improves to 9-4 overall and 1-4 in conference play, while Amherst falls to 8-6 overall and 1-4 in the NESCAC.
How It Happened
- Set One – Trinity, 25-13: The Bantams opened the match with 11 kills on 27 attempts for a .222 hitting percentage. Trinity's defense held Amherst to seven kills with 11 errors as the Mammoths finished the opening frame with a -.133 hitting percentage.
- Set Two – Trinity, 25-20: Trinity continued to control the match in the second set, tallying 11 kills. The Bantams held Amherst to eight kills and a -.026 hitting percentage to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
- Set Three – Trinity, 25-16: The Bantams put together their strongest offensive set of the afternoon to complete the sweep, registering 13 kills with just four errors on 30 attempts for a .300 hitting percentage. Amherst tallied 10 kills while hitting .167 in the final frame.
Inside the Numbers
- Trinity Fore led the Bantams offensively with 10 kills on 15 attempts and just one error, posting a match-high .600 hitting percentage. Fore also added a team-high four total blocks.
- Emma Ewart added nine kills with six digs and one service ace, while Amy Boller registered eight kills and six digs.
- Senior Scarlett Jago recorded a match-high 12 digs while also dishing out six assists and adding two service aces.
- Catalina Hendricks dished out a team-high 12 assists, while Maya Pace added 11.
- Bella Nash joined Jago with two service aces as Trinity finished with seven aces in the match.
- Trinity finished with 35 kills, 32 assists, 44 digs, seven service aces and six total blocks while holding Amherst to a .000 hitting percentage as a team.
