WATERVILLE, Maine – The Trinity College Women's Basketball team led wire-to-wire during a 61-48 victory over host Colby College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) contest at the Margaret M. Crook Center Friday night. The Bantams improve to 16-7 on the season, and 5-4 in conference action, while the Mules dip to 13-10 and 3-6 in the NESCAC.
What Happened:
- Six straight points from Marlo Simms and a jumper from Lucy Dorion helped Trinity to an 8-4 lead midway through the first quarter. Dorion added a three-pointer, along with buckets from Simms, Maya Carnes and Avery Marzo to hold a 17-13 lead.
- Trinity utilized three-pointers from Melissa Whitmore and Carnes to maintain a 23-19 advantage. Marzo sandwiched a pair of layups around drive from Samantha Slofkiss and a triple from Kiki Fossbender to possess a 32-27 lead at the half.
- Carnes and Simms powered the Trinity offense during the third quarter, netting six and four points, respectively, to give the Bantams a 42-33 edge. Dorion chipped in a layup, followed by a three-point play from Simms, to set the score at 47-37 after three quarters.
- Simms and Whitmore delivered back-to-back layups to push the lead to 51-39, and then Marzo and Dorion connected from long range to put the game out of reach en route to the 61-48 win.

- The Bantams shot 39.5% (25-of-65) from the field, including 39.1% (8-of-21) from three-point range, and 3-of-3 from the foul lin.
- The Mules connected on 34% (18-of-53) from the floor, 14.3% (1-of-7) from long range, and 84.6% (11-of-13) from the foul line.

- Simms helmed the Bantams offense with her 14th double-double of the season, logging a game-high 19 points with a game-high 13 rebounds.
- Carnes tallied 11 points with six rebounds and two steals, while Dorion added 10 points and two rebounds.
- Marzo came up shy of a double-double with nine points, nine rebounds and three assists, and Whitmore contributed seven points, six rebounds and two steals.
- Chelsea Ibenegbu led the Mules with 11 points, while Lydia Mordarski added 10 points, four assists, three steals and two rebounds
