HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College men's ice hockey team fell to No. 6 Bowdoin College, 3–1, in NESCAC action Friday night at the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The Bantams slip to 10–10–1 overall and 4–10–1 in conference play, while the Polar Bears improve to 15–5–1 and 11–3–1 in league contests.
What Happened
- Bowdoin opened the scoring at 4:43 of the first period when Bryce Bollman redirected a shot from Isaac Abbott at the edge of the crease, slipping it past Trinity goaltender Devon Bobak for the early lead.
- The Bantams pressed late in the frame, with Alexis Billequey, Jakob Karpa, and Ryan Friedman each generating chances in the final minute, but Bowdoin netminder Jacob Osborne turned them aside to keep it 1–0 after one.
- The Polar Bears doubled the advantage late in the second on the power play. With just over two minutes remaining in the period, Bollman capitalized during a scramble in front, lifting a loose puck over Bobak's right shoulder and into the top corner.
- Trinity answered in the third to cut the deficit in half. Brendan Dumas hammered home a one-timer from the left circle off a feed from Spencer Korona below the goal line, bringing the Bantams within 2–1.
- The momentum nearly swung fully in Trinity's favor, as the Bantams fired five quick shots following the goal. Joseph Harney, Blake Cotton, Dumas, Korona, and Jason Zaccari all tested Osborne, but the Bowdoin goalie held firm.
- With time winding down, Trinity pulled Bobak for the extra attacker at 18:35. The Polar Bears' defense forced a turnover in the neutral zone, and Michael Dinges broke free to deposit the empty-net tally, sealing the 3–1 final.
