Senior Day Blizzard; Bantams top Cardinals, 6-2 in Season Finale

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College men's ice hockey team closed out the 2025–26 season with a commanding 6–2 victory over visiting Wesleyan University. The Bantams finish the year 12–11–1 overall and 6–11–1 in NESCAC play, while the Cardinals conclude their season at 9–15–0 overall and 8–10–0 in conference action.

Prior to the game the Bantams honored their six seniors: Brandon Cimino, Kevin McKay, Spencer Korona, David Paluch, Nick Royster, and Devon Bobak

What Happened

  • Trinity opened the scoring in the first period thanks to a strong 2-on-1 effort from James Barbour and Jakob Karpa. Skating toward the net, Barbour faked a pass to Karpa to pull Wesleyan goaltender Patrick McDevitt out of position before finishing the play for the game's first goal. Wilson Culin was credited with the assist.
  • At the 12:03 mark, Brendan Dumas extended the Bantams' lead. After a shot from Jason Zaccari was blocked and rebounded into the slot, Dumas slipped the puck past McDevitt before he could reset. Zaccari and Korona each earned assists on the play, giving Trinity a 2–0 lead after one period.
  • The Bantams maintained control in the second frame. Following a stretch of quiet play, Ryan Panico broke through at 16:24. Winning the puck off a faceoff at the top of the circle, Panico fired a shot top shelf to push the lead to 3–0 heading into the third.
  • Wesleyan responded early in the final period. Andrew Haxton ended Aidan Hopewell's shutout bid just 1:55 into the frame, and Ethan Davidson added a power-play goal at 3:54 to cut the deficit to one.
  • Trinity answered emphatically over the final 15 minutes. Dumas netted two more goals to record his first career hat trick, while Panico added his second of the night with an empty-net tally in the closing minutes to secure the 6–2 victory.
