Men's Lacrosse Prepares for 2026 Season

| By:
HARTFORD, Conn. - The Trinity Men's Lacrosse Team will begin their season on Saturday, February 28th when the visiting Williams College Ephs travel to Hartford for a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchup.

Coming off a 9–8 season and the program's second ever NCAA Tournament appearance, the Bantams look to carry that momentum into 2026. Trinity opened the postseason with a win over Farmingdale State before falling 11–8 to York College in the second round. Head Coach Jason Tarnow enters his 9th season at Trinity (33-38) and his first while actively serving as the President of the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA)

Last year the Bantams were fourth in the NESCAC in shot percentage at .244% (174 goals on 714 shots) and second in penalty killing percentage at .784%. They will need to improve their discipline considering last year's squad ranked second in the conference in penalties per game, averaging 3.06.

Despite graduating nine seniors last year, the Bantams still return nine of their top ten point scorers. This year's squad holds 20 freshmen, 12 sophomores, 15 juniors, and 16 seniors.
The five Captains: Colin Sullivan, Jay Ottomanelli, Carter Barford, Davis Ike, Rory McAloon.

At attack the Bantams will lean on junior Bo Page and senior Jay Ottomanelli. Page led the team with 52 points (36 goals, 16 assists) and Ottomanelli was third with 43 points (32 goals, 11 assists). Both players were top 20 in the NESCAC in goals per game last season.

The depth at midfield should be a useful weapon for the Bantams in 2026. Junior Miles Harvey and senior Jake Connors were responsible for 25 points each. Junior Colin Sullivan scored 15 goals, and junior Cam Elenteny tallied 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists). Additional returning midfielders include senior Rory McAloon (27 ground balls, 7 caused turnovers), junior Duncan Rider (6 points, 14 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers), and junior Henry Schoettle (15 ground balls).

Trinity's defensive core should remain effective led by senior Ethan Lung (53 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers), senior Carter Barford (44 ground balls, 21 caused turnovers), and junior Makin Blalock (30 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers). Lung was 18th in the NESCAC in ground balls per game while Barford and Blalock were 12th and 17th respectively in caused turnovers per game.

The Bantams will look to replace their All-Conference goalie from last season, Jordan Opdahl. Within the NESCAC Opdahl ranked 1st in saves per game (15.18) and save percentage (.596%). A competitive battle in goal leaves senior Davis Ike, senior Jeb Slimbaugh, sophomore Diego Gomez, along with first-years Matt Shepard and Austin Kitces battling for the starting spot. With a deep and talented group, the team will be well positioned regardless of who earns the starting nod.

Trinity will also turn towards new faceoff men with Hayden Shin graduated. Junior FItz Frechette should be in the mix along with sophomore Will Lavallee who was 41-107 on faceoffs last year.

Trinity is 4-15 all-time versus Williams College. Last year the Bantams came out of Williamstown with a 13-9 victory.
