Men's Lacrosse Narrowly Fall to Panthers, 10-9

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Trinity College men's lacrosse team narrowly fell to the visiting  Middlebury College Panthers, 10-9, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Jessee Miller Field.

First Quarter

  • After a quiet start, both teams remained scoreless until Bantam Conley Bohan capitalized on an attacking opportunity, scoring unassisted with 3:36 remaining to open the game. Andrew Finn followed with his first goal of the season on an unassisted effort in the final minute, giving Trinity a 2-0 lead after one quarter. The Bantams also held a 12-8 advantage in shots, including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.

Second Quarter

  • Jake Connors extended the Trinity lead to 3-0 at the 12:26 mark of the second quarter, finishing a feed from Bo Page for his fifth goal of the season.
  • Middlebury responded with a surge midway through the period, scoring four unanswered goals over a five-minute stretch. John McCarthy, Ged Gengras, Cooper DeMallie, and Misha Trupo each found the back of the net as the Panthers took a 4-3 lead with 5:37 remaining in the half.
  • Billy Gerne answered with an unassisted goal to even the score at 4-4, but Middlebury regained momentum late in the quarter as Gavin Romweber and DeMallie each scored to give the Panthers a 6-4 advantage heading into halftime.

Third Quarter

  • Trinity edged Middlebury 2-1 in the third quarter. Connors and Miles Harvey each scored for the Bantams, while Nick Marvin tallied for the Panthers off an assist from Romweber. Trinity trailed by one, 7-6, entering the final quarter.

Fourth Quarter

  • Middlebury opened the fourth quarter with three straight goals to extend its lead to 10-6.
  • With 8:24 remaining, Trinity began a late push as Colin Sullivan set up Miles Harvey for the Bantams' seventh goal. Junior Bo Page then brought Trinity within one, scoring back-to-back goals in the final five minutes off assists from Harvey and Bohan.
  • Trinity had two final chances from Sullivan and Harvey, but both attempts were denied by Middlebury goalkeeper Hayden Kern, securing the 10-9 victory for the Panthers.
