Box Score 1 KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Trinity College Bantams opened their 2026 campaign with a commanding 12-0 victory over the University of Maine–Farmington on Sunday afternoon.
Trinity's second game of the day was suspended in the top of the fifth inning due to severe weather. The Bantams held a 3-1 lead with one out against the Edgewood Eagles at the time of the delay.
Game 1: Trinity 12, UMaine–Farmington 0
- After a scoreless opening inning, Trinity struck first when Emily Goddard reached base after being hit by a pitch. Makenna True followed by driving the first pitch she saw to the fence in left-center field, allowing Goddard to round the bases for the game's first run.
- The Bantams added to their lead in the third inning. Annika Haley opened the frame with a double into the gap between left and center field. Senior Abby Alper followed with a double of her own, driving in Haley to give Trinity a 2-0 advantage.
- Trinity broke the game open later in the inning with five more runs. Goddard was given another opportunity at the plate after a dropped foul ball by the third baseman and capitalized, launching a three-run home run to extend the Bantams' lead to 5-0 entering the bottom of the third.
- The Bantams pushed another run across in the next inning after a series of Beaver errors. Heather Roth reached base after being hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and moved to second on a groundout by Mikayla O'Brien. An overthrow by the UMaine–Farmington first baseman allowed Roth to advance to third, and Haley later reached on an error at third base, bringing Roth home to make it 6-0.
- In the fourth inning, Trinity first-year pitcher Erin Connor carried a no-hitter into the frame before a fielding error at third base allowed the Beavers to reach safely for their first hit of the game. Connor and the Bantams worked out of the inning to maintain the six-run lead.
- Trinity sealed the game in the sixth inning with a six-run surge to trigger the run-rule. Alper started the rally with a double that scored both O'Brien and Roth. Goddard followed with her second hit of the game, a single to left field that drove in Alper and gave her four RBIs on the day to extend the lead to 10-0.
- True added another hit to center field that moved the runners and scored Isabella Calagna for Trinity's 11th run. Later in the inning, Roth lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that brought Katie Ruffer home for the 12th and final run before the final out.
