Women's Lacrosse Rolls Past WestConn, 11-4

DANBURY, Conn. – The Trinity College Women's Lacrosse team rolled to an 11-4 victory over host Western Connecticut State, 11-4, in a non-conference tilt at the Westside Athletic Complex Wednesday evening. The Bantams improve to 5-3 overall, while the Wolves hold a 5-3 mark.
 
What Happened:
  • The Bantams jumped on the Wolves early as Lily Acerra and Alex Lesko potted back-to-back goals in less than a minute to stake Trinity to a 2-0 lead with 12:03 left in the first quarter.
  • Following a tally from Maggie Slimbaugh in the fifth minute, Acerra struck again with a man-down goal, and then Kelsey Restivo scored off a feed from Grace Denious to hand the Bantams a 5-0 lead.
  • Ivy Armentrout and Caroline Lally tacked on second quarter goals to extend the Trinity lead to 7-1 at the break.
  • After a tally from Armentrout put the Bantams on top 8-2, the Wolves used back-to-back goals from Victoria Gracy and Isabella Pota to trim the gap to 8-4 early in the fourth quarter.
  • Trinity quelled the Wolves efforts as Zito sandwiched a pair of goals around Armentrout's third tally of the game to send the Bantams to the 11-4 victory.

  • The Bantams registered 20 shots with eight shots on goal, while the Wolves posted a game-high 21 shots with nine shots on frame.

  • Armentrout recorded three points with a game-high three goals, while Acerra notched three points with two goals and an assist.
  • Zito logged two goals with a game-high four draw controls and two ground balls. Lesko grabbed a team-high four ground balls, and Lesko, Ava Lynch and Samantha Hark had two caused turnovers each.
  • Alison MacDougall (5-3) earned the win with three saves, while Karenna Chader stopped four shots in relief. Norah Zuidema made a game-high six saves for WestConn.
