Bantams Comeback Falls Short Against Polar Bears

HARTFORD, Conn–– The #16 ranked Trinity College Men's Lacrosse Team fell to #2 ranked Bowdoin College 9-8 on Saturday. After a slow start, the Bantams showed some resilience on the road tying the game in the 4th before Chris Berry netted the game winner for Bowdoin. Trinity moves to 5-6 (1-5 NESCAC) while the Polar Bears remain perfect 10-0 (7-0 NESCAC).

Game Summary

  • Just over a minute into the game, Jay Ottomanelli setup a cut and put the Bantams up 1-0 off the feed from Bo Page.

  • Bowdoin responded well scoring five unanswered over the next ten minutes of gametime.

  • Miles Harvey was able to stop the bleeding making it 5-2 with a backhanded goal dodging from behind the net.

  • A Bowdoin rebound goal with 1.2 seconds remaining made it 6-2 after the first quarter.

  • A slow scoring second quarter was highlighted by first-year Billy Guerne who dodged down the right alley for the lone Bantam goal of the quarter.

  • Trailing 7-3 to open the second half Trinity found some answers. Ethan Cobb started the action as Harvey set him up right on the doorstep.

  • Trinity was able to capitalize on two different man-up opportunities as goals from Page and Ben Horowitz made it 7-6 before another long pole goal from Carter Barford off the ensuing faceoff tied the game going into the fourth.

  • Bowdoin took the lead before Bo Page netted the equalizer with just under 11 minutes left in the game.

  • Defending in their own zone, Trinity took the ball away but was unable to clear the ball leading to a loose ball goal for Bowdoin in front of the net with four minutes remaining. The Bantams had some looks late but came away empty handed, falling 9-8.
