HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Baseball team suffered a 7-4 loss to host Eastern Connecticut State University in a non-conference clash at Holowaty Family Field in Mansfield, Conn. on Tuesday afternoon. The Bantams move to 14-6, while the Warriors rise to 15-5-1.
What Happened:
- The Warriors had an early start in the meeting chalking up three runs in the first inning. Due to an error on the Bantams first baseman allowed two runs to score, followed by a single RBI out to right center by PJ Ortiz sent in the third run of the inning.
- Eastern's Matthew Carrera had a base knock in the fourth inning that allowed for Cameron Forte to score the fourth run of the night for the Warriors.
- Trinity remained scoreless til the 6th inning when Tyler Bernstein singled with a perfectly placed bunt to score Pete Beisel.
- Aidan Stevenson followed suit with a single up the middle that allowed for Bernstein to turn third and come home, making it 4-2 in the meeting.
- In the bottom half of the sixth a homerun by Hank Penders tallied two more runs for the Warriors, regaining a 4 run lead over the Bantams. The Warriors 7th and final run of the contest was sent across the dish in the bottom of the seventh after Ian Moser doubled to left field to score Teige Kimbler.
- Trinity looked for a late push in the top of the 9th. With Saldivia on first and Dylan Schnitzer on third, the Bantams sent William Sawyer into the batters box to pinch hit for Cole Mascolo. With one out Sawyer swung on an 0-1 count sending it into left field advancing Saldivia to second and scoring Schnitzer, 7-3.
- Beisel followed with a double down the left field line, scoring Saldivia from second, 7-4.
- The Warriors relieved AJ Rooks from the mound with Nicholas Furino to close the game with a strikeout swinging and a foul out to earn the save in the game.

- The Bantams will return to the diamond when they host a non-conference single game against the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays on Wednesday, April 8th for a 3:30PM start.
- This game was rescheduled after the second game of the double header on March 22nd was canceled due to rain.
- USJ bested the Bantams in game one of the double header, 4-0. Trinity looks to return to the winning column tomorrow, and to split with the Blue Jays.
