No.11 Trinity Prepares for NESCAC Semifinals Match-up with No.1 Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, VT – The No. 11-ranked Trinity College women's lacrosse team advanced to the 2026 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) semifinals as the No. 4 seed after edging No. 5 Amherst College, 9–8, in last weekend's quarterfinals. The Bantams will face top-seeded and nationally No. 1-ranked Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon.

The NESCAC semifinals and championship games will be held in Middlebury, Vermont, on the campus of Middlebury College.

Saturday's semifinal matchups feature No. 4 Trinity (12–4) vs. No. 1 Middlebury (16–0) at 12 p.m., followed by No. 3 Wesleyan (14–2) vs. No. 2 Tufts (14–2) at 3 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.

Bantam Bytes

  • Grace Denious is tied for the team lead with 29 goals and has added a team-best 22 assists for 51 points.
  • Kelsey Restivo is closing in on the 50-point mark, totaling 29 goals and 20 assists through 16 games.
  • Sam Hark ranks second in the conference with 51 caused turnovers, while Caitlin Hicks is third in ground balls with 44.
  • Alison MacDougall leads Trinity's goalkeepers with a 7.65 goals-against average and a .468 save percentage.
  • Against the remaining semifinal teams, the Bantams are 0–2 this season, falling to Wesleyan (11–6 on April 8) and Tufts (15–5 on March 21).

Scouting the Panthers

  • Middlebury has allowed a conference-low 79 goals while scoring 226 (second in the NESCAC) this season.
  • Caroline Adams leads the conference in both points (80) and goals (52), adding 28 assists. She also ranks second in draw controls with 89.
  • Haley Hamilton (47g, 6a) and Skylar Lach (34g, 16a) have each surpassed 50 points this season.
  • Goalkeepers Annie Spring (4.40 GAA) and Elizabeth Savage (4.82 GAA) rank first and second in the NESCAC in goals-against average.

History

  • Trinity's last appearance in the NESCAC semifinals came in 2018, when the Bantams fell to Middlebury, 16–13.
  • Earlier this season, the Panthers defeated Trinity, 10–4, on March 14 in Middlebury.
  • The all-time NESCAC Tournament series between the teams is tied 2–2, with Middlebury winning the most recent meeting in the 2018 semifinals.
  • Middlebury has won a conference-best 12 NESCAC titles. Trinity has captured five championships, most recently in 2015.
