HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Soccer team surrendered a comeback bid to visiting tenth-ranked Williams College, 2-1, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference clash at Trinity Soccer Field. The Bantams sit at 2-2 on the season, while the Ephs rise to 3-0.
What Happened:
- Following a scoreless first half, the Bantams dealt the first strike as Jack Murphy headed home a bounding corner kick from Matthew McLeod to hand Trinity the 1-0 lead with 40:35 to play.
- Leading 1-0 early in the second half, Trinity suffered a stroke of bad luck as Andrew Coelho attempted to chip a pass over his head at the Bantams goal line to the front of the net, but the popped ball came down off a Trinity defender and into the net, knotting the score at 1-1 with 33:46 on the clock.
- With 24:36 left to play, the Ephs found the decisive goal as Alex Bethencourt was denied by Jake Davis at the goal mouth, but the rebound escaped Davis' reach, and Lorcan Mitchell potted the ball into an empty net, sending Williams to the 2-1 win.
