HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College women's volleyball team suffered its first loss of the 2026 season Friday night, falling to No. 2 nationally-ranked Colby College in four sets, 3-1 (14-25, 17-25, 25-23, 22-25), inside Ray Oosting Gymnasium. The Bantams move to 5-1 overall and 0-1 in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play, while the Mules improve to 5-0 and 1-0 in conference action.
Sophomore Emma Ewart paced the Bantams offensively with 14 kills and added 15 digs for a double-double, while Amy Boller followed with 12 kills and 11 digs. Junior Maya Hall added nine kills and a match-high five blocks. Senior Scarlett Jago anchored the back row with a match-high 20 digs.
How It Happened
- Set One – Colby, 25-14: The Mules came out firing offensively, recording 18 kills while hitting .385 in the opening frame. Trinity totaled eight kills in the set as Colby grabbed the early 1-0 advantage.
- Set Two – Colby, 25-17: Colby's offense continued to roll in the second, posting another 18 kills on a .361 hitting percentage. The Bantams tallied nine kills in the frame but couldn't slow down the Mules, who pushed their lead to two sets.
- Set Three – Trinity, 25-23: The Bantams responded with their strongest offensive set of the night, collecting 14 kills while hitting .268. With the frame even at 23-23, Trinity earned the next point on a Colby attack error to reach set point before closing out the 25-23 victory and forcing a fourth set.
- Set Four – Colby, 25-22: Trinity battled the nationally-ranked Mules through a tightly contested fourth frame. The Bantams pulled within two at 24-22 following a block from Chloe Gentile and Hall, but Colby secured the next point to close the set, 25-22, and take the match in four.
Inside the Numbers
- Ewart led Trinity with 14 kills while adding 15 digs for a double-double.
- Boller registered 12 kills and 11 digs, while Hall finished with nine kills and five blocks.
- Jago recorded a match-high 20 digs.
- Catalina Hendricks dished out a team-high 17 assists, while Maya Pace added 14.
- Trinity finished with 42 kills, 39 assists, 71 digs and seven total blocks. The Bantams held a 7-6 advantage in blocks against the Mules.
