Men's Soccer Falls to #1 Tufts, 2-0, In Season Opener

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Trinity College Men's Soccer team was dealt a 2-0 defeat at the hands of defending Division III National Champions Tufts University in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) clash at Bello Field Saturday night. The Bantams move to 0-1 on the season, while the Jumbos rise to 1-0 overall.
 
What Happened:
  • The Bantams looked to strike in the 12 minute, but a shot from Trevor Saruwaka was denied, and the Jumbos found the back of the net just over a minute later as Xavier Canfin scored off a pass from William Cornog to hand Tufts the 1-0 lead.
  • In the 59th minute, Henry Brown converted a corner kick feed from Ellis Denby to extend the Jumbos lead to 2-0.
  • Tufts goalkeeper Nikola Antic denied a pair of late shots from Dillon Reilly and Wallace Lawrence to preserve the 2-0 victory.
