HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College women's volleyball team opened its 2026 season with a pair of 3-0 victories Saturday at Ray Oosting Gymnasium, defeating SUNY Canton in the morning before sweeping Husson University in the afternoon. The Bantams improve to 2-0 on the season following wins over Canton, 25-20, 25-17, 25-18, and Husson, 25-12, 25-16, 25-14.
Inside the Numbers:
- The Bantams took the first set, 25-20, before closing out the match with wins of 25-17 and 25-18 controlling all three sets to earn a 1-0 record to start the season.
- Trinity was led offensively by sophomore Maya Hall, who recorded a match-high nine kills while hitting .471. Senior Amy Boller added eight kills and four service aces, while senior Chloe Gentile contributed seven kills, five total blocks, and two aces.
- Senior Catalina Hendricks directed the Bantams' offense with 14 assists and added four service aces, while sophomore Maya Pace tallied 12 assists, matching her career-high and three blocks. Senior Sarah Jeremias paced the Trinity defense with eight digs, while Boller and Hendricks each added seven digs.
- Stat leaders for the Kangaroos were Abby Raven, Viv Sija and Clara Bond all tallying 4 kills, Kaelyn Boliver with 13 assists, Rylan Walker handling 11 digs and 3 blocks added by Raven.
- Trinity finished the match with a .234 hitting percentage compared to .104 for SUNY Canton. The Bantams also held advantages in kills (41-22), service aces (10-5), blocks (7-3), assists (35-20), and digs (47-37).
- In the afternoon match against Husson, sophomore Annette Schlunk led all players with 12 kills while hitting an impressive .800, adding two service aces and five digs. Gentile followed with eight kills while hitting .500, while first year Trinity Fore added seven kills on a .545 hitting percentage and two blocks in her collegiate debut. Sophomore Maya Hall contributed six kills and six digs.
- Hendricks again guided the Bantams' offense with 13 assists in two sets, while Pace and first year Keira Sky Pierce each added 10 assists. Senior Scarlett Jago led the defensive effort with a match-high 12 digs, while Hall and Jeremias each finished with six digs. Madeleine Aldecoa and Fore each recorded two blocks.
- For the Eagles, five kills led the office from Janna Preskorn, eleven assists from Eden Fraser, seven digs by Kiara Griffin and two blocks a piece from Autumn Peterson and Abby Vose.
- Trinity hit .337 as a team against Husson, finishing with 47 kills on 95 attempts. The Bantams also held advantages in kills, 47-15, assists, 41-14, digs, 52-27, and service aces, 8-2. Trinity limited Husson to a .061 hitting percentage.
- Across the two matches, the Bantams combined for 88 kills, 76 assists, 99 digs and 18 service aces, while winning all six sets played to open the season.
Up Next:
The Bantams return to action on Wednesday, September 9, traveling to Franklin, Mass., for a night battle (7PM) against the Dean College Bulldogs. Trinity enters the match with a 2-0 record, while Dean sits at 0-4 on the season. Wednesday's contest will mark the first meeting between the two programs.
