Women's Cross Country Seniors Burdulis And Sternberg Named Bantams Of The Week

Hartford, Conn. - The sixth Bantams of the Week of 2020-21 fall season has been selected.  With the postponement of intercollegiate competition for Trinity's fall teams, we will be honoring our fall senior student-athletes as Bantams of the Week.  These athletes have been denied the opportunity to compete in their final traditional season by the COVID-19 outbreak, but are working hard and safely at practice to prepare for a final chance to compete as Bantams this spring.  This week's honorees are women's cross country senior captain Julia Burdulis (Hopkinton, Mass.), and senior Emma Sternberg (Plymouth, Minn.).

Trinity Athletics created the Bantams of the Week award to spotlight three outstanding student-athletes who have performed at an extremely high level while representing the Bantams in varsity sporting competition.

Burdulis, a six-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree in cross country and track and field, is a two-year starter in Trinity's top seven.  She posted a season-best, second-place finish at the Tri-State Invitational in Rhode Island, and was also 35th in the NESCAC Championships, and 75th in the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships. An alum of Hopkinton High School, Burdulis is majoring in education and psychology at Trinity. She is the daughter of Sharon and Mike Burdulis.

Sternberg, a four-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree, joined the cross country team this fall after three years as a jumper and sprinter in track and field.  She represented Trinity women's track and field on the 2019 NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team. A graduate of Orono High School, Sternberg is majoring in English and religious studies at Trinity. She is the daughter of Manon and Bill Sternberg.
