Three Volleyball Seniors Honored As Bantams Of The Week

Three Volleyball Seniors Honored As Bantams Of The Week

Hartford, Conn. - The first Bantams of the Week of 2020-21 fall season has been selected.  With the postponement of intercollegiate competition for Trinity's fall teams, we will be honoring our fall senior student-athletes as Bantams of the Week.  These athletes have been denied the opportunity to compete in their final traditional season by the COVID-19 outbreak, but are working hard and safely at practice to prepare for a final chance to compete as Bantams this spring.  This week's honorees are volleyball seniors Brianna Brown (Telluride, Colo.), Becky Chu (Old Tappan, N.J.), and Jessica Yang (Pacific Palisades, Calif.).

Trinity Athletics created the Bantams of the Week award to spotlight two outstanding student-athletes who have performed at an extremely high level while representing the Bantams in varsity sporting competition.

Brown appeared in eight matches and nine sets at both middle hitter and right-side hitter for the Bantams in 2020, and was chosen to represent Trinity volleyball on the 2020 NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team. She was also a NESCAC All-Academic honoree in 2018.  A graduate of Telluride High School, Brown is majoring in biology at Trinity. She is the daughter of Laura Cattell and Banks Brown.

Chu appeared in 19 matches and 44 sets on defense for the Bantams in 2020, totaling 96 digs.  A graduate of Northern Valley-Old Tappan High School, Chu is majoring in biology at Trinity. She is the daughter of Linda and Danny Chu.

Yang led the Bantams with 367 assists and added 24 kills on 61 attacks with a team-high .213 hitting percentage, 30 service aces (10th in NESCAC), and 167 digs in 23 matches and 75 sets at setter while also serving as a team captain in 2019. A graduate of Marlborough High School, Yang is majoring in neuroscience at Trinity. She is the daughter of Debra Wong and Russell Yang.
