Hanover, Ind. - Senior co-captains Sam Moorhead (Dedham,
Mass.) and Hunter Norte (Ellington,
Conn.) came in 16th place and 24th place, respectively, to
lead the Trinity College Bantams to a best-ever, seventh-place
finish in the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country National
Championships this afternoon at Hanover University. The
Bantams totaled 278 points to place 33 behind sixth-place
Wisc.-LaCrosse and 28 ahead of eighth-place Geneseo State.
Cortland State won the event with 80 points.
Moorhead finished 26 seconds off the first-place pace and just
over two seconds shy of the top ten with a time of 24:48.38, while
Norte recorded a time of 24:52.68. Bantam sophomore
Brendan Powers (Middleton, Mass.) came in 68th
place at 25:21.96, while freshman Michael Burnstein
(Brookline, Mass.) finished 92nd at 25:34.67, and
sophomore Blake Fisher (Naperville, Ill.) was

Bantams achieved the second-best score of the four New England
teams that had qualified for the event (Amherst and
Brandeis). Trinity was ranked No. 18 in the nation entering
the weekend, but finished better than the No. 7 thru No. 17-ranked
teams, including No. 12-ranked Amherst which had finished ahead of
the Bantams in the NCAA Division III Regionals last weekend.
