Auburndale, Fla. - Sophomore RHP Andrew Janiga
(Ellington, Conn.) struck out seven and did not allow a
run over six innings on the mound in the first game and senior
co-captain C Sean Killeen (Greenfield, Mass.)
smacked the go-ahead run on solo homer in the top of the seventh
inning in the second game, as the Trinity College Bantams swept the
Endicott College Gulls, 9/7-1/6, in Russmatt Central Florida
Invitational baseball action this afternoon. Trinity, ranked
No. 2 in the nation, improves to 4-0, while Endicott falls to
1-3.
Junior OF James Wood (Windham, N.H.) went
3-for-4 to lead the Trinity offense in the first game, while
classmate Kent Graham (Longmeadow, Mass.) was
3-for-4 I the nightcap. Bantam junior Joe Markovich
(Mill Creek, Wash.) tripled in the sixth frame and scored
on a sacrifice fly by classmate Stephan Bernstorf
(Cockeysville, Md.) to tie the second game at 3-3.
Junior lefty and winning pitcher Derek Anderson (Graet
Falls, Va.) closed out his six innings on the hill with a
scoreless sixth, and Killen ignited a four-run seventh to put
Trinity ahead, 7-3. Endicott scored three times in the last
of the seventh, but junior righty Conor O'Sullivan-Pearce
(Cambridge, Mass.) worked out of trouble to preserve the
win.
