Trinity Baseball Suffers First Doubleheader Sweep In Almost Two Years

Winter Haven, Fla. - Junior Aidan Lucas (Evanston, Ill.) went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI and scored the game-winning run in the first game and earned a save on the mound in each game, as the Denison University Big Red recorded a 4/10-2/7 doubleheader sweep against the Trinity College Bantams in Russmatt Central Florida Invitational baseball action this afternoon at Chain of Lakes Stadium.

Trinity, ranked No. 1 in the nation, falls to 7-2 and drops both games of a twinbill for the first time in almost two years.  Denison improves to 8-4 and extends its winning streak to five games.  The losses snapped a 50-game regular season winning streak by the Bantams that spanned over two years. Trinity went 45-1 last season en route to capturing the national title and entered the day ranked first in the D3Baseball.com National Poll.  Trinity had not lost back-to-back games since the 2007 NCAA regional tournament (May 18) and were last swept in a doubleheader on March 31, 2007 by Bowdoin College.

Trinity junior OF James Wood (Windham, N.H.) finished the day 5-for-7 with two doubles, while senior co-captain C Sean Killeen (Greenfield, Mass.) went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in the nightcap.
