Clermont, Fla. – Freshman OF Amelia Mostovoy (San
Francisco, Calif.) went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI,
and a solo homer to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 8-4
victory over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks in
National Training Center Games softball action this
afternoon. Trinity, which played three games today but lost,
1-0, against the Middlebury College Panthers and, 8-5, against the
Union College Dutchwomen, are now 4-7.
Mostovoy and senior CF Jessica Tait (North Salem,
N.Y.) each tied the score in the Wisc.-Whitewater game in
the middle innings with solo homers, and Tait scored the
game-winning run on a suicide squeeze in the top of the seventh
inning by senior co-captain SS Patricia Cipicchio
(Southmont, N.C.). Tait was 2-for-3 and scored three
runs. Bantam sophomore righty Katherine Poulos
(Wilton, Conn.) tossed a three-hitter with five strikeouts
but took the loss in the middle game, while junior 2B
Katherine Stoltenberg (Montgomery, N.J.) was
2-for-3 and freshman Kerry McCarthy (Andover,
Mass.) was 2-for-4 with two runs against Union.
Junior RHP Kristen Anderson (West Haven, Conn.)
earned the win against the Warhawks with four-plus innings of
relief, and took the loss against Union in a complete-game
effort. Five of the Dutchwomen runs were unearned.
