Hartford, Conn. – Freshman 3B Caroline Blanchard
(Norwich, Conn.) went 3-for-4 with three runs, two
doubles, a triple, and five RBI to lead the Trinity College Bantams
to a 13-0 win against the visiting Smith College Pioneers in
softball action this afternoon. Trinity improves to 9-7 with
its fifth straight victory, while Smith slips to 2-15 with its 14
consecutive loss.
Trinity held a 6-0 lead after two innings and Blanchard keyed a
seven-run fourth frame with a three-run double. Bantam
sophomore RHO Katherine Poulos (Wilton, Conn.)
tossed a three-hit shutout through five innings when the game was
ended due to a 10-run mercy rule. Trinity junior co-captain
Nicole Nardella (Beverly, Mass.) was 4-for-4 with
three doubles and three runs scored, while classmate
Katherine Stoltenberg (Montgomery, N.J.) and
freshman Amelia Mostovoy (San Francisco, Calif.)
each added two hits for the Bantams.
