Eleven Records Fall For Bantams At League Championships

Brunswick, Maine - Junior Kyle Beek (Kingston, Jamaica) finished third in the one- and three-meter meter diving events with respective scores of 406.35 and 415.95 for 11 dives each, as the Trinity College Bantams finished ninth in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Meet at Bowdoin College this weekend.  Trinity totaled 458 points on the first day of the three-day event, which was over 100 points more than 10th-place Colby, while Williams topped the standings with 1,741.5 points.  Beek earned All-NESCAC Honors for the second consecutive season for his outstanding performance.

Trinity senior tri-captain Andrew Boynton (Northhampton, Mass.) set new College records all weekend, including a school mark of 1:57.49 in the 200-yard backstroke this afternoon.  First-year Mark Yanagisawa (Woodbridge, Conn.) added a record-breaking time of 1:58.66 in the 200-yard butterfly and senior tri-captain C.J. Murdoch (Gladwyne, Pa.) broke the 1,000-yard freestyle record (9:52.62).

Boynton broke at least one Trinity record on each of the meet's three days, setting a new record in the 100-yard butterfly of 52.89 on Saturday and new marks in the 50-yard butterfly (23.80), the 50-yard backstroke (25.09), and the 100-yard backstroke (54.06) on Friday.  Also setting Bantam records Saturday were freshman Lucas Knight (Forest Hills, N.Y.) in the 400-yard IM (4:14.32) and freshman Sean Greer (Fairfield, Conn.) in an eighth-place performance in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:55.05, broken again the next day by Murdoch). Murdoch set a school record for the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.96) and earned ninth-place in the 1,000-yard freestyle.  The 800-yard freestyle relay ( 7:10.77) team, composed of Murdoch, Greer, and junior Adam Eramo (Rowley, Mass.) and Parker Tricarico (Darien, Conn.), broke a record (7:10.77) as well on the second day.

Boynton additionally teamed with Murdoch, Tricarico, and sophomore Alexander Latka (Longmeadow, Mass.) to break the College-record in the 4x400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:36.28 on Friday.  Murdoch added a 10th-place finals time of 4:42.41 in the 500-yard freestyle for the Bantams on the first day.
