Clermont, Fla. – The Trinity College Bantams defeated the Knox University, 9-1, and Macalester College, 17-0, in National Training Center Games softball action this evening. Trinity was playing its first games of the season.
The Bantams totaled 30 hits and took advantage of 10 errors by its opposition, while junior Katherine Poulos (Wilton, Conn.) and senior Kristen Anderson (West Haven, Conn.) each took five-inning, complete-game victories in the circle. Bantam sophomore SS Caroline Blanchard (Norwich, Conn.) and freshman DP Claire Prosperi (Northbrook, Ill.) were each 2-for-3 with a double in the first game, while senior co-captain 1B Nicole Nardella (Beverly, Mass.) went 4-for-4 against Knox with two doubles, a home run, and four RBI. Sophomore OF Amelia Mostovoy (San Francisco, Calif.) went 3-for-3 with a triple against Macalester, while senior co-captain 2B Katherine Stoltenberg (Montgomery, N.J.) was 3-for-5 with four runs, and first-year Abby Ostrom (Carlisle, Mass.) was 3-for-5 with two runs, three RBI, and a triple in the nightcap.
