Clermont, Fla. – Senior Erica Bush (Greenwood, Ind.) pitched a complete game two-hit shutout to lead the Manchester College Spartans to a 6-0 win over the Trinity College Bantams, who would later fall to New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) East foe Williams College, 13-9, in softball action today at the United States Training Center. Trinity, which falls to 5-5, closes out its spring trip with games against New Paltz State and Grinnell tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
The Trinity offense was unable to solve Bush in Game 1, as the streaking Manchester team cruised to their fourth straight victory. Senior Katherine Stoltenberg (Montgomery, N.J.) and first-year Christina Galese (Fairfield, N.J.) recorded the lone hits for the Bantams. Trinity senior co-captain Kristen Anderson (West Haven, Conn.) pitched a complete game on the hill.
Galese was a high point for the Bantams, collecting a notable hit in the Game 2 loss to Williams as well, stroking her first career homerun at the college level, a three-run blast. First-year Abigail Ostrom (Carlisle, Mass.) and senior co-captain Nicole Nardella (Beverly, Mass.) combined for four hits, including a double and a triple, and two RBI in the game. Williams outhit Trinity 14-11.
