Trinity Softball Blanks Colby To Open Three-Game Set In Maine

Waterville, Maine - Senior RHP Kristen Anderson (West Haven, Conn.) earned her eighth victory of the season in a complete game shutout as the visiting Trinity College Bantam softball team took a 6-0 win against the Colby College Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference East Division play this afternoon at Crafts Field.  Anderson scattered six hits, struck out three, and walked none for the Bantams, who improve to 15-7 overall and 5-2 in the NESCAC East with their third victory in a row.  Colby starter Lauren Becker gave up just one earned run after being hurt by three errors behind her. She struck out two and walked one in 6.1 innings of work.  The Mules drop to 4-11 overall and 0-4 in the division.  The teams will complete the three-game series with a doubleheader tomorrow at noon.

Senior co-captain Katherine Stoltenberg (Montgomery, N.J.), freshman Abigail Ostrom (Carilsle, Mass.), junior Katherine Poulos (Wilton, Conn.), and sophomore Amelia Mostovoy (San Francisco, Calif.) all had two hits to led Trinity. Bantam sophomore Caroline Blanchard (Norwich, Conn.) scored a pair of runs, while Poulos and Ostrom both had two RBI.  Trinity scored one unearned run in the third inning and two more in the fourth thanks to a two-run single by Poulos. After a lone run in the fifth inning, Trinity scored two more runs in the seventh on Ostrom's two-run single.  Barbara Santos had two hits to lead Colby.
