Waterville, Maine - Junior RHP Katherine Poulos (Wilton, Conn.)
pitched a complete game 2-0 shutout in the opener and the visiting
Trinity College Bantams made it a doubleheader sweep against the
Colby College Mules with a 14-2 victory in five innings in the
second game in New England Smalll College Athletic Conference East
Division play this afternon at Crafts Field.
Poulos and Colby pitcher Aimee Polimeno had a good duel going in
the first game, both going six innings without allowing a run. The
Bantams scored two unearned runs after two straight errors opened
the top of the seventh inning. After a sacrifice fly by sophomore
Kerry McCarthy (Andover, Mass.) brought in the first run, Trinity
scored again on another Mule error.
In the second game, sophomore SS Caroline Blanchard (Norwich,
Conn.) had two hits, two runs scored and three RBI for the Bantams.
Freshman Claire Prosperi (Northbrook, Ill.) homered among her two
hits, scored twice, and had two RBI. Freshman Abigail Ostrom
(Carlisle, Mass.)added two hits and three runs scored.
Trinity scored two runs in the first, five in the second, a lone
run in the third, and then sealed the game with six runs in the
fourth.
