Trinity Softball Wins First Two Games Of 2012 Season

Clermont, Fla. – Senior co-captain RHP Katherine Poulos (Wilton, Conn.) tossed a four-hitter with six strikeouts in the first game and junior SS Caroline Blanchard (Norwich, Conn.) went 2-for-4 with a double and three runs in the second game, as the Trinity College Bantams opened the 2012 softball season with a pair of wins over the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets and the Lawrence University Vikings this afternoon in the National Training Center Games. 

The Bantams downed the Yellowjackets, 9-1, in a mercy-rule-shortened, five-inning game, and edged Lawrence, 8-6, in eight innings.  Trinity sophomore CF Christina Galese (Fairfield, N.J.) went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs, and two RBI against the Yellowjackets.  Rookie 2B Miranda Riendeau-Card (Bowdoinham, Maine) was 2-for-5 with two runs and classmate Katerina Kolbe (Washington, D.C.) picked up the relief victory in her first career appearance in the circle against the Vikings.
