Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore Christina Galese
(Fairfield, N.J.) hit a tie-breaking solo homerun in the
bottom of the fifth inning to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a
2-1 win over Bates in NESCAC East softball action this afternoon on
Campus Field. Trinity moved to 8-6 on the year and 2-1 in the
NESCAC, while Bates falls to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the
league.
The homerun by Galese was her second key hit of the afternoon,
after the outfielder had doubled and scored a run in the second
inning on an RBI single by senior co-captain Kristina Yu
(Andover, Mass.). Senior co-captain
Katherine Poulos (Wilton, Conn.) picked up her
second complete game win in 24 hours, allowing six hits in seven
innings today for the Bantams.
Junior Kerry McCarthy (Andover, Mass.) collected
two hits and a walk in the game for Trinity, while six different
Bobcats tallied a hit. Senior co-captain Lauren
Dobish (Chambersburg, Pa.) knocked in the lone run for
Bates, scoring classmate Karen Ullman (Ramsey,
N.J.), who also had two stolen bases on the
afternoon. Bates senior Kristen Finn (Winthrop,
Mass.) put in another strong pitching performance today,
allowing one earned run in six innings, after picking up a win in
Game 1 yesterday afternoon.
Trinity travels to Tufts, ranked No. 1 in New England and No. 23
nationally, for a three-game series starting Fri., April 6 at 4
p.m.
